Sunshine Coast Beaches

The Sunshine Coast stretches along the spectacular coastline from Caloundra in the south to Noosa Heads in the north for a distance of 70 kilometres. There are 36 perfect beaches, all very different and unique, with most being ideal for swimming, surfing, sunbaking or beach walking.

Starting at Caloundra, Bulcock Beach and Golden Beach are calm water beaches in Pumicestone Passage and are ideal for families with small children. Kings Beach is another family favourite with an oceanfront pool and a children’s water feature play area adjoining the beach. Whereas Moffat Beach is a renowned surf beach with a perfect point break. Further north is the famous Dicky Beach – a family favourite.

Kawana area has four relatively lesser known beaches such as Buddina, Currumundi, Wurtulla and Warana. These are all great for swimming, fishing, walking and surfing.

Mooloolaba Beach is an extremely popular beach with Mooloolaba Spit at one end and Alexandria Headland at the other. Visitors flock to these beaches all year round to enjoy the safe swimming conditions these beaches provide.

Offering superb surfing and many recreation activities including kite surfing and fishing, Maroochydore Beach provides the best of both worlds with estuary and surf beaches. Mudjimba Beach, just north of Maroochydore is another less inhabited beach.

The Coolum region has many beaches that are nestled amongst towering cliffs and is one of the sought after surfing spots on the Sunshine Coast with good sized breaks. There is Coolum Beach, Marcoola, Peregian and Yaroomba – all worth a visit.

Noosa’s spectacular assortment of beaches offers everything from horse riding to snorkelling, leisurely swimming and great surfing. The Iconic Main Beach just off Hastings Street is ever popular but there are many uncrowded and secluded beaches hidden amongst the cliffs and bays throughout the Noosa National Park. Also worth a look are beaches at Sunrise Beach, Castaways Beach, Marcus Beach and Sunshine Beach.

Every beach on the Sunshine Coast is popular with locals for some reason or other with plenty of beaches that boast nearby playgrounds, barbecue and picnic tables, as well as calmer, patrolled waters for the kids.
