Spring into a spring holiday at Maroochydore!

Dreaming of springing into a spring holiday? Maroochydore is the perfect Sunshine Coast destination for a Spring Holiday, and the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the outdoors.

The days are warming and getting lighter for longer, the beach and river look extra inviting and an abundance of flowers are starting to bloom in the regions many natural outdoor areas.

We’ve compiled a list of outdoor activities that highlight all the great things you can do on or near the water that we think you’ll enjoy when staying at the M1 Resort, Maroochydore this spring:

1 – Explore the Maroochy River

There is no better time to explore the Maroochy River than springtime.  Enjoy a beautiful sunrise from Cotton Tree Beach, walk around the headland and dig your feet into the sand whilst enjoying the water wash over our feet or take a dip in the ocean at Maroochy Beach, which is a patrolled beach.

Engage in a bit of bird-spotting and you might be lucky enough to see on the beautiful birds of this region including the Brahminy Kite, Osprey and White-bellied Sea Eagle or a more common water bird like cormorants, the snake birds, spoonbills, ibis, black duck and of course pelicans.

If you enjoy fishing then why not cast a line in from the river banks or from one of the many jetties along the Maroochy River. The river mouth and the headland are the most popular locations, together with beach fishing into the rip holes.

2 – Discover the coastline

One of the most pleasant pastimes during your stay in Maroochydore is to walk or cycle along the coastline. The Coast Pathway is 96kms in length and runs from Noosa to Pumicestone.

It’s broken into sections with one 4.4 km section stretching from Cotton Tree Park which fringes the Maroochy River and then follows the coastline part Maroochydore Beach, past Alexandra Headland Beach and through until Mooloolaba giving walkers gorgeous views of the beaches along the way.

Why not take a towel and some cash and either strop along the way for a swim or stop in at one of the many cafes you’ll pass along the way.

3 – Paddle the Maroochy River Canoe Trail

This experience offers you a choice of amazing canoeing journeys and potentially exciting physical challenges. Be rewarded with the experience of hidden natural wonders. You will experience the diversity and abundance of plant and wildlife species thriving along the Maroochy River Canoe Trail.

The trail is approximately 30-kilometres long, and begins at the upper reaches of Lake Dunethin. From Lake Dunethin, paddlers can paddle north to George Best Park which is located east of the Bruce Highway, or south to Coolum Creek, the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary and Mangrove Islands, into the lower reaches of the Maroochy River.

It’s the perfect day out for families, seniors, couples, and groups with varying degrees of canoeing expertise.
