Soak Up What’s Left of Summer

Soak up what’s left of Summer on the Sunshine Coast. Summer officially finishes at the end of February, but the days continue to be warm and sunny into Autumn. The water temperature at the beaches is still a balmy 25 degrees and the humidity in the air is substantially less, making it a perfect time to holiday on the Sunshine Coast.

Get out on the water, whether it’s at the pristine beaches, the river mouth or the calm waters of the Maroochy River. There’s plenty of water activities that will keep you reminiscing about Summer days!

One of the best spots in Maroochydore to enjoy all kinds of water activities is in the river mouth and along the sandy shores of the Maroochy River. Here small children can swim safely in the calm shallow waters and is perfect for learning how to paddle a kayak or stand up paddleboard for the first time.

For those who want to experience the waves of a surf beach, Maroochydore Beach has a patrolled area right near the Surf Club where you can safely swim between the flags.

The beach between Maroochydore and Alexandra Headland is also an excellent spot to learn how to surf, generally with small well-formed waves, perfect for beginners. If you’re not confident to surf on your own, then check out one of the Surfing Schools on the Sunshine Coast.

For the adrenaline junkies there are also plenty of ways to get out on the water and experience the rush and excitement of either jet skiing or maybe a jet boat ride. Check out M1 Resort’s Tours & Attractions page for booking jet skiing or jet boating tours.

A fantastic outing for families of groups of friends, is a day of slipping and sliding at Bli Bli Aqua Park or maybe water skiing on the Sunshine Coast’s only man made fresh water ski facility at Oz Ski Resort Coolum.

Cruises are also extremely popular on the Sunshine Coast with a choice of:

  • Mooloolaba Seafood Lunch or Sunset Cruise
  • Dolphin Discovery Cruise
  • Maroochy River Cruise
  • Deep Sea Fishing & Crab Tour
  • Mooloolaba Canal Cruise
